Through funding from a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant, isisHawaii had the opportunity and pleasure of introducing the Design Thinking (DT) process to the Hawaii State Department of Education’s Honolulu District (HOND) administrators, specialists and teacher mentors. Already vested in the successful integration of Engineering Design Processes (EDP) throughout some of their complex schools, HOND wanted to explore how compatible DT would be and what value it would add.

The isisHawaii DT Team spent a very productive 6 hours with the group discussing EDP and DT differences and similarities, strengths and alignment. As the activity concluded, group comments were very positive with many hoping that training would be expanded.

Special thanks to 21CCLC Program Director, Pam Kohara, for inviting us to present this DT introduction.
